Hi! I'm Chef John M!

I've been cooking my whole life — and I mean that literally. I started experimenting in the kitchen at 8, had my first restaurant job at 13, and by 17 I was serving as a chef in the military. More than 15 years into this career, I still get up every day excited to do the same thing: make food that connects people and leaves a mark.

My Style

My cooking is bold and comforting, rooted in the flavors that mean the most to me. Caribbean cuisine holds a special place in my heart — the depth, the warmth, the way it brings people around a table — and my love for Chinese food runs just as deep. Whatever I'm making, I'm cooking with intention. I want that first bite to mean something.

My Story

My culinary journey has taken me places I never could have predicted. Three overseas military tours. A gold challenge coin from a four-star general. Winning a cooking competition against five other chefs. And one of the moments I'm most proud of: cooking for President Barack Obama.

But the memory that stays with me most? Watching a guest react to a dish I'd poured everything into — right there in a restaurant kitchen. That look on their face is exactly why I do this.

Beyond the Kitchen

When I'm off the clock, I'm spending time with my daughter and family — they're everything. I also stay busy gaming, bowling, and skating. And I have one big dream in the works: getting a really, really big dog. My favorite place I've ever traveled is Rhodes — I've been twice and loved it more the second time. I'm already planning the third.
